The 3rd Research Week 2020 is scheduled for October 12 -16, 2020. The annual event, hosted by the University of Nairobi, will feature 13 different conferences covering a diverse range of academic disciplines and is expected to bring together over 1,000 participants comprising researchers, scholars, students and practitioners from all over the world.

“Due to the corona virus pandemic, we will hold this year’s conferences virtually and participants will for the first time interact virtually,” says Prof. Madara Ogot, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Enterprise. “The University of Nairobi is making all the necessary arrangements to make this conference deliver a unique experience to the participants.”

The Conferences include the 2^nd Annual International Conference on Project Planning and Management, 3rd Annual Architecture and Engineering Conference, 3rd Annual Conference on the Role of Literature in the Global World and the 3rd Annual Forensic Victimology and Victim Support Conference, 3rd Annual International Conference on Open, Distance and E-Learning, 3rd Annual Science for Sustainable Development Conference, 3rd Annual Conference on the Status of African Women, 2nd Annual Development Finance Conference, 5th Annual DBA-AMR International Conference, 11th Africa International Business Management Conference (AIBUMA), 1st Annual Conference on Information Science, 3rd Annual International Conference on  Research and Innovation on  Education and the 3rd Annual International Multi-Disciplinary Conference.

“The conferences will provide a forum to enable you to present your work, engage with your colleagues, and learn about the latest developments in your field. We call on you to submit your paper and also register to participate,” says Prof. Madara. “For students, especially PhD students, Research Week will provide an ideal forum to present and receive positive critique on your work before you submit it for journal publication, or before your dissertation defense.”

The Office of Career Services is working together with the Dean of Students Office to strategise on how to increase the visibility of the Deans Office to all students, staff and wider University Community.

This will be achieved through the implementation of the strategic objectives of the DOS communication strategy which include:

• Increase the visibility, credibility and understanding of the Dean of Students Office;
• Increase and promote a positive image of the Dean of Students office among stakeholders;
• Increase the Dean of Students influence on students’ welfare by leveraging its mandate through communication;
• Increase stakeholder communication and involvement with the Dean of Students Office;
• Improve communication especially in areas where challenges are currently experienced
• Strengthen the Dean of Students communication capacity to tell the stories of the activities the office engages in.

The aim is to ensure that the number one stakeholder who is the students is aware of the various services offered by the Dean of Students Office.

The Office of the Dean of Students is concerned with student affairs to help address the holistic growth, development and wellbeing of students in support of the University’s vision, mission and objectives. The officers work in liaison with different University departments as well as with student leaders, parents and maintain contact with outside agencies and the community to help carry out the mandate of the office effectively and efficiently. The Office deals with Needy Students, Disability Issues, Work-study Programmes, Financial Aid Office, Advocacy and Liaison Services, Chaplaincy services, Counseling Services, Students with Disability, Career and Placement services, Entertainment services from the University Choir and Orchestra and Students Liaison services for professional organizations & clubs and students’ leadership (UNSA).

As Johnson Kinyua takes over as the Ag. Dean of Students, it is anticipated that the Office will unlock its potential and give excellent service to the students and improve on their welfare in campus.
