The University of Nairobi Alumni Association (UONAA) this week presented a donation of handwashing machines as way of responding to the unprecedented challenges of the Pandemic and giving back to their alma matter. The equipment which comprised of over 6 handwashing stations were donated to the 6 University Colleges and were warmly received by the DVC Academic Affairs, Prof. Julius Ogeng’o together with the Dean of Students, Mr. Kinyua on behalf of the various College Principals.

The move was greatly commended by various members of the Executive Committee and Alumni Chapter Chairs who were also in attendance. They noted and appreciated the efforts made by the Association to combat the deadly virus as well as improve on the general sanitation to ensure maximum preparedness as the resumption to the various academic programs is underway.

 

In his remarks, the DVC (AA/SA) Prof. Julius Ogeng’o  praised and commended the Organizers for their tremendous contribution towards saving lives, which he termed it as service to humanity. He placed his heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the University.

The Dean of Students, Mr. Johnson Kinyua appreciated the importance of such equipment and how they are going to be of much assistance both to the students and staff members. He advised on the essence and need to use the handwashing tools responsibly and thanked the Association on behalf of the students.

The University of Nairobi Alumni Association is a long-term University’s strategic partner and has been making immense support to the University since its inception.  The Association did call on all Alumni from every sector of the Kenyan and global economy to consider extending their support to their Alma Mater through the Association.
